Lodi car crash kills 6, including child, pregnant woman

Multiple people were killed or injured in a six-car collision in Lodi, Calif., on Tuesday.

(UPI) -- Six people, including a pregnant woman and her unborn baby, died after a six-vehicle crash at the intersection of South Ham Lane and West Vine Street in Lodi, Calif., on Tuesday.

Among the dead were 31-year-old Vivian Rodriguez, who was seven months pregnant, 30-year-old Luis Miranda, 11-year-old Irving Miranda, 5-year-old Jose Miranda and 4-year-old Stephanie Miranda.

Police have yet to discover the cause of the accident, though several witnesses said they saw a man in a tan SUV speed through the intersection while talking on his cell phone. The man is now in critical condition at the hospital.

Authorities called the accident one of the worst in the history of the 60,000-person city.
