The 37-year-old actress clarified that report in a conversation with E! News last Friday, saying that she didn't almost lose her hand, but that she "sustained significant injuries for which I am still recovering and will continue to be recovering."
"I'm aware of it every day not being one hundred percent," she said. "At least it wasn't my face torn open," she added.
Bialik described the accident on her Kveller blog last year:
"I had a horrible accident. I will be okay. I have all my fingers but a very impaired right hand. It was very bloody and scary but I am ok," she wrote. "I am a deeply religious person who used prayer and deep breathing to keep me going all the way from the accident to the ER to surgery six hours later, no medication until surgery."
