Rapper wants GTA 5 recalled over stolen songs

(UPI) -- Rapper and producer Daz Dillinger is accusing Rockstar Games of using two of his songs without permission in Grand Theft Auto 5.

The former Dogg Pound member says that Rockstar had offered a "lowball" $4,271 for both songs, which Dillinger says he refused. But apparently Rockstar went ahead and used the tracks in their West Coast-set game.

In a cease-and-desist letter to Take-Two Interactive Software and Rockstar, Dillinger demanded that the game maker either compensate him for the use of "C-Walk" and "Nothin' But the Cavi Hit" or recall the game.

Given that the record-breaking game saw $1 billion in sales in just three days, recalling and destroying all unsold copies of the game is unlikely to happen. Dillinger has given Rockstar 14 days to give him a better offer for his songs.

In a statement to TMZ, Dillinger said the case is about "respecting an artist's work."

Dillinger produced "Nothin' But the Cavi Hit" for Mack 10 and Tha Dogg Pound in 1997. The song was written for the hip-hop documentary "Rhyme & Reason," released that year. Dillinger then produced "C-Walk" for rapper Kurupt's debut album "Kuruption!" in 1998.
