Fans of "American Horror Story" greeted "Coven" with the show's biggest premiere yet, and the show's stars are just as excited as the fans.

Oct. 10 (UPI) -- "American Horror Story" is back, and it's bigger -- and crazier -- than ever.

The FX show, which bowed to its biggest premiere yet with its third season, "Coven," up 40 percent from last year's "Asylum" premiere.

And if you ask the cast of the Ryan Murphy- and Brad Falchuk-helmed series, all those newcomers are in for a twisted treat.

"The witches on this show be crazy, witches be crazy," teases Gabourey Sidibe, one of the show's newcomers. "It's interesting because you can't quite tell anyone's intention. It's not so cut and dry, like Glinda the Good Witch and Maleficent, that's a bad witch. You can't quite tell yet who's a good witch and who's a bad witch."

Taissa Farmiga, who is the younger sister of actress Vera Farmiga and played a major role in the show's first season, "Murder House," was thrilled to be back with the shape-shifting show.

Murphy "called me in January and I was actually shooting a movie in Barcelona at the time," Farmiga explains. "I was just so excited. I was like, ‘Ryan wants to talk to me, why? What could he possibly want?' and then he told me about this character he was writing and that he wanted to write it for me, and I was like, ‘Yeah, let's do it!'"

Farmiga hinted that fans will once again see sparks fly between her character, Violet, and Evan Peters' Kyle.

"We'll see where it goes," she teased.

And whatever might happen between them on set, Peters' real-life girlfriend, Emma Roberts, who joins the show for the first time this season, is game.

"It's a lot of fun," Roberts said. "I'm a huge fan of the show and have been watching it since the first season so to get to be on it and to be playing a witch is pretty awesome!"
