Cristy Nicole Deweese was Playboy's “Coed of the Month” in February 2011 and now she’s a Spanish teacher -- a career transition that at least one concerned parent has a problem with.

Deweese, 21, is a first-year teacher at Rosie M. Collins Sorrells School of Education and Social Services at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center. The school serves students in grades nine through 12. The school is part of a Dallas-area independent school district.

An anonymous parent is upset that Deweese has not been removed from her position and said the situation has become a distraction.

“Are her male 16- and 17-year-old students looking at her without picturing her nude?” the parent said. “And for the female students, is this someone they can respect as an educator, someone that they can look up to?”

Texas Education Agency spokeswoman Debbie Ratcliffe said it was “a murky situation.”

“It wasn’t an illegal activity, but it raises the question about whether that action violated the Educators’ Code of Ethics” she said. Apparently there is an ethics standard that states: “The educator shall be of good moral character and be worthy to instruct or supervise the youth of this state.”

DISD spokesman Jon Dahlander acknowledged that the district is aware of the concerns. “This is a personnel matter, and it will not be discussed,” he said
