The three-day protest has been dubbed "Truckers Ride for the Constitution" and it aims to tie up three lanes of Interstate 495 around the nation's capital.
Promoters expect around 3,000 truckers to participate in the weekend rally. The strike also looks to enlist supporting motorcyclists, and will reportedly let them pass as long as they display the group's motto: T2SDA, which stands for the campaign's original name, "Truckers to Shut Down America."
"[The] stage is now set for what we now consider the last peaceful defensive stand in a war that has been declared by Wall Street, Washington, and the Whitehouse upon the American people," "Ride for the Constitution" wrote in a press release.
Social media users have been using the hashtag #T2SDA to support the movement.
