After rumors that David Boreanaz was leaving his long-running hit "Bones" spread, his fans took to Twitter to find out whether the show would lose character Booth.

Boreanaz has been on the show's cast for nine seasons, but was reportedly telling friends that he was leaving after the current season.

In 2012, Boreanaz tweeted: “I’m a free agent after this season [Season 8]. So the Bones farewell tour is in full-swing. You must always keep your options open and ready for new challenges. The fear is the unknown and that’s exciting.”

But the reports are untrue, Boreanaz said, and responded to one of the users on his Twitter account to deny the rumors.

"Bones" is expected to last another season, provided FOX renews it. The central couple of Booth and Brennan, played by Emily Deschanel, just got engaged in the show, so there is still plenty of room for storyline for Boreanaz's character to grow.
