Curt Schilling holding bankruptcy auction at Massachusetts home on Saturday

Former MLB pitcher Curt Schilling will hold an estate auction because he defaulted on a $75 million loan from Rhode Island.

Although he doesn’t like talking about it, outspoken former MLB pitcher Curt Schilling is being sued by the state of Rhode Island after he defaulted on a $75 million loan he took out to finance his now-defunct video game company, 38 Studios LLC. In order to help raise some money to hand over to his creditors, the ex-Red Sox ace is putting the contents of his Medfield, Mass., home up for estate auction.

The auction is taking place on Saturday. According to the website advertising the sale:

Schilling’s famous bloody sock won’t be available for purchase -- he already sold it for $92,613 at a New York auction -- but baseball fans will be able to bid on items like Tiffany & Waterford crystal pieces, Lladro figurines, two matching custom sofas, a Kohler & Campbell baby grand piano, home decor & accents, and a Craftsman tractor entitled "The Ice Mower," among other things.

There also will be “lots of costumes just in time for Halloween,” so trick-or-treaters who are still looking for outfits may want to drop by.
