Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth draw a large crowd to the re-opening gala of the Saenger Theatre
on Canal Street Saturday.
The show, which was dubbed Chenoweth's New Orleans "debut," celebrated the $52 million renovation of the theater.
The Canal Street landmark, built in 1927, had been closed since 2005 after it was swamped by the floods that ensued hurricane Katrina. The theater reopened on September 27 with a sold-out performance by Jerry Seinfeld.
