If you're wondering what happened to one-time American sweetheart Meg Ryan, People magazine is out with a new story about the 51-year-old actress' "private life" in New York City.

"Los Angeles is just about movies," Ryan's friend Delia Ephron, the late Nora Ephron's sister, told the mag. "New York is about so much more than that, and so is Meg."

Ryan, who hasn't appeared in a feature film since 2009, has apparently forgone her movie career to concentrate on raising her 8-year-old daughter, Daisy, and spend time with her musician boyfriend John Mellencamp.

The "Sleepless in Seattle" actress split with husband Dennis Quaid in 2000, after it was revealed that she had had an affair with Russell Crowe on the set of their film "Proof of Life." Ryan said in 2008 that Quaid had his own affairs.

"Dennis was not faithful to me for a long time, and that was very painful..." she said.

People magazine's latest issue hits stands Friday.
