Rep. Sean Duffy (R-Wis.) reported a minor assault outside the Capitol on Wednesday night.

Duffy told Capitol Police he was walking from his office to the Capitol for votes when "a random individual, unknown to the congressman, began screaming at him and grabbed his arm," Duffy's spokesperson says. The congressman was unharmed in the incident.

A spokesperson for U.S. Capitol Police said they are investigating the incident.

"He reported the incident in compliance with House security procedures," Duffy's spokesperson said. "Congressman Duffy has requested no further action be taken and there will be no further comment on the matter at this time."

Lawmakers have the option of using a tunnel system to avoid walking outside, across Independence Avenue, between their offices and the Capitol.
