October 3rd is "Mean Girls Day," so its appropriate for Maxim to debut its cover of Lacey Chabert, who played Gretchen Wieners in the 2004 comedy.

Chabert was 12 years old when "Party of Five" producers cast her as Claudia Salinger, so it might surprise some 90s TV fans to see her on the cover of Maxim's November issue wearing nothing but lingerie and a cardigan.

Now 31, Chabert discusses the long shelf life of "Mean Girls" and being the "nice girl next door."

“I have to say that was pretty awesome," Chabert said of the time the White House made a pretty decent "Mean Girls" joke on Instagram. "I retweeted it and said, ‘OK, fetch has officially happened.’ I mean, it’s the White House!" she told the mag.

"People tweet me all the time, ‘Are you still trying to make fetch happen?’ I never thought people would still be quoting Mean Girls 10 years later," she said.

Asked how she avoided the fate of so many other child actors -- a.k.a. her "Mean Girls" co-star Lindsay Lohan -- Chabert credited her parents.

“Look, life is tough, and growing up in this business is especially tough. So I really can’t take any credit other than saying I grew up in a really protective family," she said. "Also, I want a long-lasting career, so you’re not gonna find me doing anything scandalous any time soon.”

So is Chabert a "mean girl" herself?

“No, I’m not a mean girl," she said. "Life is too short.”
