Oct. 2 (UPI) -- A Wonder Woman fan film has gained popularity on YouTube, and fans want more.

Produced by Los Angeles-based VFX and production company Rainfall, "Wonder Woman" was directed by Sam Balcomb and stars Rileah Vanderbilt.

The 2 1/2-minute clip is mainly a series of slow-motion action sequences that include a street fight with armed thugs and an ancient temple defense against mythological monsters.

Rainfall says the video, posted September 30 and already with nearly 3 million views, was made because Wonder Woman is a "vital" superhero.

"Firstly, thanks for watching. Whether you like, or dislike, our live action interpretation of Diana of Themyscira, Wonder Woman, born of clay, I think (quite a few of) you will agree she is a character just as vital and crucial to our understanding of humanity as any other superhero... if not more so."

Fans have since renewed their demands for a full-length Wonder Woman feature, even as projects based on the character have been passed over and abandoned several times over recent years.

Current fan favorites for the lead role include Gina Carano, Jaimie Alexander, Gina Torres, Lucy Lawless, Lucy Griffiths, and Taylor Cole.
