Sonic the Hedgehog is returning to television in a CG animated morning show set to debut in fall 2014.

The Sega video game character first appeared in 1991 and has since been featured in more than 70 games. This will be the fourth time Sonic the Hedgehog appears on television.

The action-comedy will be co-produced by Sega of America and Genao Productions. Takashi Iizuka, the creative force behind the character, is overseeing the series.

The show, which has a working title "Sonic Boom," will feature the title character, his sidekick Tails and his arch-nemesis Dr. Eggman in addition to other game characters.

The series will be aimed at kids aged 6 to 11, and will debut on Cartoon Network in the U.S. and Canal J and Gulli in France, with a global rollout to follow.
