This James Franco-directed drama documents the final days of Sal Mineo, the openly gay "Rebel Without a Cause" star who was stabbed to death near his apartment building in 1976.
"Sal" debuted at the Venice Film Fesitval two years ago, though it's taken this long for Tribeca Films to release the film in theaters.
Val Lauren stars as Mineo, who received Oscar nods for his roles in "Rebel" and 1960's "Exodus" before his career declined in the late 1960s and 70s.
"Sal" hits VOD and iTunes October 22.
