Lolo Jones is making late-night runs to McDonald's in the hopes of qualifying for a spot on the nation's Olympic bobsled team, where bulk is appreciated.

"I'm the heaviest ever in my life," Jones told USA Today's Kelly Whiteside. At 157, she's three pounds away from her goal weight.

"I'm pumped about this muscle weight," she added. "My abs are still there. I'm still cut, just super solid."

Jones began her Olympic career as a track-and-field star at the 2008 and 2012 games in Beijing and London, where she failed to live up to her own expectations and medal.

Disappointed by her achievements on the track, the 31-year-old athlete turned to a completely different sport -- bobsledding -- and embarked on a demanding training regimen in the hopes of competing at 2014's Winter Olympics in Sochi.

To that end, Jones is eating 9,000 calories a day, a diet plan that involves double bacon cheeseburgers and a lot of time in the gym. It's strange coming from a sport where "you eat an M&M and you think your career is over," Jones told the paper.

She's also documenting her efforts on Instagram and Twitter. In one instance, she ate 10,000 calories in honor of her 10,000th tweet.
