Following Monday morning reports that Amanda Bynes had left UCLA's Medical Center for another treatment facility in Malibu, Calif., the 27-year-old actress' parents released a statement regarding her mental health.

TMZ reported earlier that Bynes had entered The Canyon, a Malibu center frequented by celebrities, though some observers expressed concern that it didn't have adequate psychiatric facilities. The Bynes family statement wasn't specific about their daughter's location.

"Currently, upon recommendation by the skilled healthcare professionals at UCLA Medical Center, Amanda is receiving specialized treatment in a private facility outside of Los Angeles," Rick and Lynn Bynes said through their lawyer, Tamar Arminack.

"Amanda is making great strides towards recovery," they added.

The entire Bynes family would like to ask that they be given some measure of privacy so they can focus on Amanda's health and well-being. The Bynes family would also like to thank all of Amanda's supporters and well-wishers for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

A source told TMZ that Bynes wanted to leave UCLA because she "was stuck with people in much worse condition than her."

"She was scared, afraid and did not leave her immediate room area," the source said.
