Tiger Woods has won the 2013 PGA Tour Player of the Year award.
Woods won five of the 16 tournaments he played this season: the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Farmers Insurance Open, Players Championship and Bridgestone Invitational. Woods finished in the top ten in three others.
For the award, he beat out Henrik Stenson, Phil Mickelson, Matt Kuchar and Adam Scott.
Woods said that his most significant win was the Players Championship.
"To win against that quality of a field is a great feeling."
He has won the award 11 times before, but the 2013 award is his first since 2009, when he won six times in 17 starts.
"I had a number of chances to win some tournaments," Woods said. "I won five, which is, I think, a pretty good year. I've done that a few times over the course of my career. I wish I would have been a little more consistent in some of the events, but overall, at the end of the day, to add to the win total for the year, it's always a good thing."
