Oprah confronted Lindsay Lohan over her work ethic

Oprah Winfrey had to get tough with a dilly-dallying Lindsay Lohan.

No one messes with Oprah Winfrey -- especially not Lindsay Lohan, the poster child for fallen celebrity starlets.

With Lohan finally free from her 90-day stint in rehab, it looked like Oprah had taken the 27-year-old "Canyons" star under her wing. Lohan gave Oprah her first post-rehab interview, and stood to gain $2 million from an OWN network docu-series about her recovery.

But TMZ reported Thursday that the 59-year-old media mogul was so frustrated with the young actress' frequent no-shows and troublesome work ethic, that she drove to Dina Lohan's Long Island home for a confrontation.

"She told Lindsay either clean up her act or the project is over and Lindsay would not get her $2 million paycheck," TMZ said. "We're told Lindsay is now cooperating and things have been running okay for nearly a month."

Winfrey appeared to confirm the report in a recent interview with Access Hollywood, telling Shaun Robinson that there was "a lot of chaos going on" in the early days of their collaboration.

"So I went to have a conversation, a real conversation about that, to say to her, ‘Do you want to do it? Because if you don’t want to do it, that’s OK. We could just end it. We don’t have to do it,'" Oprah said.

I went to her house just to say, ‘What are you doing? Let’s get real here.’ And… ‘This is what’s conflicting about it.’ Because it’s television and we stand to gain if it does well. But the real truth is -- and anybody who knows me, certainly my producers on the way there -- Sheri Salata was in the car -- I said, ‘If I get here and Lindsay isn’t serious, I will shut this thing down today.'

Lohan apparently reaffirmed her commitment to the project, "but Oprah is still watching Lindsay like a hawk."
