Sept. 26 (UPI) -- The Houston Astros Twitter account came under fire Monday after posting a message about an upcoming ladies night event.

The tweet, which invited ladies to "learn about baseball," didn't sit well with many twitter users who claimed the post was misogynist and outdated.

"@astros implying women don't know about baseball?" wrote user @Yvetteab

"so grateful @houstondynamo have never insulted their female fans like that," tweeted @1morequietnight.

"#Astros tweets from 1950? I learned baseball scorekeeping FROM MY MOTHER. My wife has seen more games than you. Jesus." wrote @pkmonaghan.

Other users responded by attacking the struggling team.

"The Astros might want to learn how to play baseball themselves before they start offering to teach anyone.." wrote @therealquin.

"What's worse? The assumption that women would need to be taught about baseball or the idea that the @astros could do so?" tweeted @HunterFelt.

The Astros have yet to say anything about the controversial tweet, but whoever is running the account definitely changed their strategy when posting about Ladies Night on Wednesday.

"9/27 is Ladies Night by @StateFarm! Come out & get behind-the-scenes insights from the #Astros front office & enjoy food, drinks & more!" the Astros posted Wednesday.
