Catherine Zeta-Jones makes first appearance since Michael Douglas separation

Catherine Zeta-Jones made her first solo public appearance Sunday since allegedly separating from Michael Douglas.

The 43-year-old actress was seen in China's Shandong province where she walked the red carpet to announce the launch of a new $5 billion film studio and plans for an annual Chinese film festival hosted by AMC Entertainment.

Later that day, Zeta-Jones also attended the ground breaking ceremony for the Wanda Film Festival Production Center in Qindao, China.

Also on Sunday, but in the United States, Zeta-Jones' estranged husband Michael Douglas received the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a TV Miniseries or Movie for his portrayal of flamboyant pianist Liberace in HBO's film "Behind the Candelabra."

Douglas, 68, who has dismissed rumors that the couple is going trough a temporary separation, thanked his wife for her support during his acceptance speech.
