Zac Efron's supposed substance abuse problems might have been worse than previously reported.

Sources told several media outlets earlier this week that the former "High School Movie" star completed a stint in rehab about five months ago -- though accounts varied as to Efron's substance of choice.

But sources have told TMZ that the 25-year-old heartthrob has actually been to rehab twice -- once in March for his two-year-long addiction to cocaine and once in April when he relapsed on the set of Seth Rogen's "Neighbors."

The gossip site said Thursday that Efron turned to drugs to deal with his overbearing parents, his "girl issues" and his lackluster film career.

Despite the ups and downs, Efron seemed to be in high spirits when he promoted his film, "Parkland," at the Toronto film festival earlier this month.

"He's taking care of himself and it shows," a source told People.
