Sept. 20 (UPI) -- The NFL's most famous hair is about to become the league's most famous haircut.

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu became famous off the field for his hair when he appeared in a Head and Shoulders commercial.

Now, Polamalu has offered to cut his hair to help the Veterans of Foreign Wars in their "Mane Event" on Veteran's Day.

“We talk about supporting veterans often, but now its time for us all to DO something. I'm getting a ceremonial haircut this Veterans Day for the #VFWManeEvent with Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW I DARE you to join me. www.VFWManeEvent.org," Polamalu posted on Twitter.

Steelers fans can only hope that his hair, which has not been cut in more than a decade, is not like Samson's.
