Supermodel Kate Moss may be pushing 40, but that's not stopping her from baring it all on the cover of Playboy's 60th anniversary issue, out this December.

The cover shoot will nod to the magazine's history, with Moss donning the classic bunny ears, French cuffs and silk stockings.

"This is a massive global brand," said Playboy editorial directory Jeremy Jellinek of the magazine. "You need a global icon in order to celebrate that -- that was the impetus" to get Moss.

"You’re talking about the face of Burberry, the biggest supermodel in the world on the cover of Playboy," Jellinek said. "She’s the perfect partner for us to help launch the next 60 years."

"This creates a heat for the brand globally," he said. "It started with Marilyn Monroe on the cover of Playboy 60 years ago, an icon for her time. Now we've got Kate Moss!"

Founder Hugh Hefner also approves.

She’s a worldwide celebrity and iconic and crosses the boundaries from sexual imagery to upscale modeling," Hefner said. "It’s a natural for us."

Moss has some experience with nude modeling, in the past appearing for Love magazine, Vogue Brazil, David Yurman jewelry, Versace, St. Tropez tanning products and the Pirelli calendar in nothing but her birthday suit.

So it's perhaps appropriate that Moss's "Playboy" cover will arrive just in time for her birthday: the blonde Brit hits the big 4-0 on January 14.
