Sept. 18 (UPI) -- People are still talking about Miley Cyrus twerking at the VMAs, which is presumably what she meant by "making history" despite continued criticism from the likes of Cher and P!nk.

Recent collaborator Britney Spears gave "props" to Cyrus yesterday for just being herself, adding that any "memorable" performance comes with criticism.

But two more famous female performers have been asked to weigh in on the young star's turn with "Blurred Lines" singer Robin Thicke.

"I'm not old-fashioned," Cher told USA Today. "She could have come out naked, and if she'd just rocked the house, I would have said, 'You go, girl.' It just wasn't done well. She can't dance, her body looked like hell, the song wasn't great, one cheek was hanging out. And, chick, don't stick out your tongue if it's coated."

Meanwhile, E! Online got the opinion of P!nk, who had Miley's hair before she did.

"Am I into it? No, I think it's tacky."

"She's really freaking talented; she's beautiful," P!nk continued. "She can sing her ass off and to go up there and do that? She's cheating herself and she's cheating the rest of us... She can do what she wants. People can like it if they want. I'm not going to buy it. She can do better. I've seen her do better."

The former Disney star, recently split from fiancé Liam Hemsworth, says she doesn't care about the criticism.

Days after the VMAs, Cyrus told MTV "they're over thinking it. You're thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it."

"I don't pay attention to the negatives," Cyrus added. "I've seen this play out so many times. How many times have we seen this play out in pop music? Anyone [who] performs, that's what you're looking for. You want to make history."

And just today, Cyrus reached No. 1 with her first "Hot 100" hit. "Wrecking Ball" climbed the charts in part thanks to her nudity in the video, which propelled YouTube views.
