Back in the late 1970s, Robert De Niro was already a movie star, but Michelle Pfeiffer was almost entirely unknown.

Now the two members of Hollywood royalty are sharing the big screen for the first time in the mobster comedy "The Family," which opened in theaters this weekend.

But in an interview promoting the film, Pfeiffer spilled an old secret to her costar.

"I actually auditioned for Raging Bull, that was when I very first met you… did I ever tell you that?" she said to De Niro.

"It was my very first interview ever, and my agent just sent me on it," she said. "It was like go have an experience, never thinking I would ever get the part , which of course I didn't. But I always dreamed of working with him, so I was just very excited."

All De Niro could say was, "Really? Oh, wow."

Check out the whole interview.
