Toyota recalls 780,000 vehicles -- again

Toyota Motor Company is recalling 780,584 vehicles in the US for a second time over concerns that a suspension defect was not properly fixed the first time the vehicles were recalled.

Affected vehicles may have problems with the rear suspension arm as it may rust and lead to eventual failure if nuts aren't tightened properly during service.

According to SaveCar.gov, the potential problem could "cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash."

The affected models include the RAV4 sport utility vehicle and the Lexus HS 250h. The RAV models included in the recall were manufactured between 2006 and 2011 and the Lexus models include vehicles made between October 2005 and September 2010.

Toyota first recalled the vehicles in August 2012 and reportedly repaired the affected parts. Last Tuesday, however, the carmaker sent a letter to dealers explaining that some vehicles have continued to "experience symptoms of the recalled condition."

"Upon investigation, it was discovered that some inspections were not adequate and portions of the repair procedure may not have been performed correctly," the statement read.

Dealers are being asked to replace the suspension arms if any rust is found in them as part of the new inspection.
