The Syrian government has reportedly agreed to disclose the location of their chemical weapons stockpile, halt production and show its facilities to Russia, the United Nations and other states.

The news was announced Tuesday by Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem, according to Russia's Interfax news agency.

The announcement comes amid weeks of talks of a potential U.S. military strike on Syria.

U.S. senators began working on an alternative solution Tuesday morning that would grant authorization for a military strike if the Assad regime failed to follow through on the plan at hand over their chemical weapons.
