Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Brian Hallisay got a little pushy protecting his fiancé and "Client List" costar Jennifer Love Hewitt when a paparazzi got too persistent snapping pictures of the couple last Friday in Los Angeles.

The photographer spotted the pair leaving the Toscana restaurant in Brentwood Friday. When Hallisay and Hewitt asked him to back off, the pap apparently refused, and Hallisay got in his face.

According to a police report, confirmed by LAPD media relations, the pap claims he injured when his camera whacked him in the face during the confrontation.

Hewitt, who is pregnant, reportedly allowed a few more photos, but the shutterbug headed to the police station to file a report anyway.

Sources say there was no visible injury when he came into the police station, but police are conducting an investigation into the allegations of battery.
