A tropical storm in the eastern Atlantic could become the first hurricane of the 2013 season, forming near the Cape Verde Islands off Africa's west coast and strengthening into midweek.

Warnings have been issued for the Cape Verde Islands as Tropical Storm Humberto moves north, expected to grow in intensity to become the first full-fledged hurricane of this year's late starting season.
