Saints veteran Will Smith has suffered a season-ending knee injury, source confirmed (as PFT reported)— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 26, 2013
Smith left the game after being part of a pile-up after teammate Cam Jordan sacked Texans quarterback Mike Schaub. The injury was later determined to be an ACL tear.
Smith, 32, was transitioning into becoming an outside linebacker under new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. He took a $6 million pay cut to stay in New Orleans.
Smith joins Saints linebackers Victor Butler, Martez Wilson and Junior Galette as players that will miss significant time due to injury.
