Lil Wayne's year has been marred by epileptic attacks and controversy, but the 30-year-old New Orleans native said Thursday that he plans to work harder if it "kills" him.

"Noticed I wasn't nominated nor involved n da MTV VMA's nor da BET awards," Weezy tweeted over the weekend. "I apologize to my fans and I promise 2 work harder if it kills me."

After a series of seizures sent him to the hospital, Lil Wayne admitted last March that he suffered from epilepsy.

He blamed the seizures on "just plain stress, no rest, overworking myself," though some wondered whether the rappers supposed affinity for "sizzurp," a cough syrup and codeine mixture had exacerbated his condition.

Critical reception for Weezy's latest album, "I Am Not A Human Being II," was mixed.
