Greer police say DMX, 42, was the passenger in a truck stopped Tuesday night for making an illegal u-turn.
DMX was arrested after officers realized he had an outstanding warrant for driving under suspension.
Authorities also discovered marijuana in the truck. Simmons and the driver, Anitra Shalawn Rhodes, 39, were each charged with simple possession.
DMX was arrested just over a month ago on suspicion of DUI, but was released on $1,235 bail after he passed a breathalyzer test in jail.
Three weeks ago, DMX filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in order to get a passport before a planned Europe and Africa tour later this year. DMX owes $1.24 million in child support alone, far more than the $2,500 delinquency limit for obtaining a U.S. passport.
