Adele tweeted a glowing review of The Civil Wars' self-titled second album to her 16 million followers last week, pushing the folksy American duo to No. 2 on the British charts -- below Britain's Got Talent's Richard and Adam.
The young singer has endorsed The Civil Wars before, once calling Joy Williams and John Paul White "the best live band" she had ever seen. Unfortunately for The Civil Wars -- and their management at Columbia Records -- Williams and White have stopped speaking to one another and split up the band. “There are moments when I do feel like my hands are tied, because I would love to be performing these songs,” Williams said of her musical break up with White. “I’m wrestling with it. I’m losing sleep over it.” The Civil Wars first found success in 2011, when their critically acclaimed album "Barton Hallow" won a Grammy and a Taylor Swift collaboration pushed them up the charts.
Please go and get the new Civil Wars album. They're my absolute favourite and the new record is beautiful! X— Adele (@OfficialAdele) August 7, 2013
