Michelle Kwan to cover 2014 Olympics for Fox Sports

In a ramped-up effort to compete with powerhouse network ESPN, Fox Sports has added a number of high-profile analysts to their roster, including Erin Andrews, Regis Philbin and Andy Roddick.

Their latest hire is Michelle Kwan, an American figure skater who became one of the nation's most popular female athletes when she competed in the 1998 and 2002 Olympics.

Now 33, Kwan will help Fox News cover 2014's Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of the Fox Sports team,” Kwan said in a release. “Fox Sports is known for being fresh, innovative and fun, and that’s the approach I plan to bring in my role. I want to give fans an insider’s look at figure skating and the entire Olympics experience.”

“There is no bigger name in the sport of figure skating than Michelle Kwan, and we are delighted to welcome her to FOX Sports,” Rick Jaffe, Fox Sports' VP of news, added. “Not only is she the most decorated figure skater in U.S. history, but she is also opinionated and insightful, and we’re very lucky to have her as part of our Olympic team.”

Kwan currently works for the U.S. Department of State as a senior advisor for public diplomacy and public affairs.
