Randy Travis was released from a Texas hospital Wednesday after spending more than three weeks in treatment for congestive heart failure and suffering a stroke.

The 54-year-old country singer departed the Heart Hospital at Baylor Plano and entered a physical therapy facility, his publicist said.

"Thanks to all the fans and friends for your continued prayers and support as Randy continues on the road to recovery," his fiancé Mary Davis said in a statement.

Travis was hospitalized July 7 at Baylor Medical Center in McKinney, Texas, with congestive heart failure related to presumptive viral cardiomyopathy, a condition in which a virus attacks the heart muscle and causes the heart to beat slowly or even stop. He suffered a stroke and underwent surgery July 10.
