July 31 (UPI) -- A line of code in the new version of iPhone iOS 7 beta software seems to confirm rumors that Apple is adding fingerprint scanning technology to the next iPhone model, expected out sometime this fall.

The iOS 7 beta 4 release, made available to developers Monday, includes a folder called "BiometricKitUI" and command strings that describe the fingerprint scanning process.

Apple acquired fingerprint recognition chip firm AuthenTec last July, fueling rumors that the technology would be a key component to the next iPhone.
