July 31 (UPI) -- Amelia Earhart is going to attempt to fly around the world next summer.

Yes, you read that correctly.

That would be Amelia Rose Earhart, a traffic reporter for KUSA 9 News in Denver, named for the famous aviatrix, Amelia Mary Earhart.

Earhart, like her namesake and distant ancestor, says she is happiest when she's airborne, and has planned on recreating the round-the-world attempt -- hopefully to better results -- than the original Earhart.

Starting next July, Earhart and her co-pilot Patrick Carter will trace the 1937 flight that ended in mystery, taking two weeks to symbolically complete the 28,000 mile journey.

Earhart will fly a Pilatus PC-12NG, and upon completion of the journey, will be the youngest woman to fly around the world in a single-engine aircraft.

She began flying in June 2004, and created the nonprofit Fly with Amelia Foundation, which gives flight scholarships to young women.
