Peavy went seven innings in what could be his final game for the Sox as trade rumors picked up pace and the July 31 deadline crept nearer.
The 32-year-old right-hander has eight wins and a 4.28 ERA on the season, and is expected to command a high price in a trade.
Scouts for the Red Sox, Cardinals, Dodgers, Braves, Orioles, Reds and Rangers were on hand for Thursday's victory, as well as the player personnel director from the Athletics, in which Peavy gave up just four hits, three of which were homers. The Sox pounded Detroit's Justin Verlander for 11 hits over six innings.
White Sox General Manager Rick Hahn has promised to keep Peavy "abreast of what's going on," Peavy said, adding that he doesn't want to be traded but is prepared for the possibility.
