Former New York Rep. Anthony Weiner confirmed in a statement that newly emerged lewd photos are in fact from correspondence he had with an unnamed woman.

"As I have said in the past, these things that I did were wrong and hurtful to my wife and caused us to go through challenges in our marriage that extended past my resignation from Congress," Weiner said in a statement. "While some things that have been posted today are true and some are not, there is no question that what I did was wrong."

The 48-year-old father of one added that he had warned the media that "other text and photos might be out there" when he announced his bid for New York City mayor in April.

"Basically, New Yorkers know the story. I did it. I did it with multiple people. These things were wrong and inappropriate, and I never should have been dishonest about it," the representative told NBC 4 New York.

The new pictures and chat messages surfaced Tuesday on the website TheDirty.com. They were reportedly posted by a 22-year-old woman with whom Weiner had lengthy chats of a sexual nature.

She claimed that the former New York Representative offered her a place on a panel hosted by Politico as well as a condominium in Chicago.

"I just want people to really know he's lying when he acts like he has changed," the unnamed woman told TheDirty.

According to TheDirty.com, Anthony's online name was "Carlos Danger."

"I said that other texts and photos were likely to come out, and today they have," he said Tuesday.

Weiner, D-N.Y., resigned from Congress in June 2011 after he admitted to sending lewd photographs to multiple women online.
