Nobody seemed to have noticed that "Jay-Z" dropped the hyphen from his name, until Billboard editor Joe Levy reported Wednesday that the media should probably star referring to him as "Jay Z."

According to SPIN, Jay Z spelled his name without punctuation for 2011's "Watch the Throne" collaboration with Kanye West and in promotions for his most recent debut, "Magna Carta Holy Grail."

Complex reached out to Jay Z's publicist, Jana Fleishman, for clarification.

"Dude...We haven't used the hyphen since 2010..." she said.

Billboard has changed their articles to reflect the name change.

Confused? You can still call Jay Z by a myriad of monikers, helpfully listed by Consequence of Sound:

Hov, Hova, J-Hova, Jigga, Jigga Man, Jay, Mr. Carter, and, our personal favorite, Lucky Lefty.
