Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron went to Twitter to explain why he didn't attend the 2013 ESPY Awards.

"You're right I'm not at the espy's! I don't have to be at a award show to know what my team did. I'm back at school working to get another," the 22-year-old wrote.

According to USA Today, McCarron's tweet, which he deleted and then reposted, "could be constructed as a veiled shot" at Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel who attended the show days after being sent home from the Manning Passing Academy camp after he reportedly got sick.

McCarron and Manziel were roommates as the Manning camp. After getting sent home for missing a morning activity, Manziel asked the press to not "pin this" on McCarron for not waking him up.
