Russian game lets you kill Pussy Riot to protect church [VIDEO]

July 17 (UPI) -- A new video game in Russia lets players kill balaclava-clad members of feminist punk collective Pussy Riot by beating them over the head with golden crosses.

The point of the game is in its title, "Don't Let Pussy Riot Into the Cathedral."

If you let the Pussy Rioters enter the church before you can whack them, they reappear on the church roof with horns. Ominous clouds gather and the building gradually falls into disrepair.

Strangely, the soundtrack for the game is Pussy Riot's "Punk Prayer For Putin," in which they appeal to the Virgin Mary, asking her to get rid of then-Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and to "become a feminist."

That was the song at the center of a guerrilla performance in Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Savior that led to Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alyokhina and Yekaterina Samutsevich being convicted of "hooliganism motivated by religious hatred."

The trial and conviction attracted worldwide criticism. Following an appeal, Samutsevich was freed on probation, her sentence suspended. Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina continue to serve their two-year sentences in prison.
