The Pro Football Hall of Fame has removed a photo of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez.

An official from the Canton, Ohio museum said that the Hernandez photo had received a number of complaints after Hernandez was charged with the first-degree murder in the death of semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd.

"In the spirit of good taste, we thought we'd take it down," said Joe Horrigan, vice president of communication and exhibits for the hall.

Hernandez entered a not guilty plea to one count of murder and five firearms charges. The removed photo was an award-winner in the annual Hall of Fame photo contest.

The decision is the latest move by the NFL and the Patriots to distance themselves from Hernandez, who was released by the Patriots shortly after his arrest and remains in custody without bail.
