Metta World Peace waived from Lakers, tweets other options

The Lakers used their one-time amnesty to waive Metta World Peace on Thursday.

The veteran NBA star took to Twitter, as he usually does, to react. He hinted at bad news early Thursday, but didn't mention his amnesty.

Then he got to the amnesty part... kind of.

And then "My Favorite Burger" took away the whole grain buns. These losers amnestied the buns.. Unreal man..

By the time the news broke, World Peace had already made plans moving forward.

Rumors started floating about the potential amnesty, but Laker Kobe Bryant said that if it were his decision, he would keep him.

World Peace has 48 hours from the amnesty to clear waivers.

Teams can bid a minimum of $1.4 million to take on his contract if they have cap room. The amount of the winning bid would come off the $7.7 million the Lakers still owe World Peace.

Eleven teams are projected to still be under the cap: the Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, Sacramento Kings, Milwaukee Bucks, Dallas Mavericks, Charlotte Bobcats, Utah Jazz, Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns.
