An unexpected tornado swept through the small Tropical Isles mobile home community in Palmetto, Fla., on Tuesday night, the Herald Tribune reported, damaging at least 12 homes in the process.
"It ranges from minor to catastrophic damage,” a local fire chief said.
According to the Bradenton Herald, at least five homes were seriously damaged. Nancy and John Kadlick were watching TV when the tornado tore most of the roof off her home.

"What I had sitting out was flying across the room," Nancy Kadlick said. "John was sitting there looking at the sky. I told him to get down on the floor."
