The NFL may not invite players that are academically ineligible for play in college to participate in the scouting combine.

The potential move comes as more players undergo scrutiny after getting in trouble with the law. Keeping players out for missing academic standards might eliminate immature players that are not ready to commit to representing an NFL team full-time.

If the move had been in place in 2013, many players would have not been invited to the Indianapolis combine and thus not been drafted in the league.

The move has not been made official, nor has NFL commissioner Roger Goodell commented on the potential change.

Analysts have pointed to recent incidents, including former Patriot Aaron Hernandez's pending first-degree murder charges, as reason to tighten player restrictions.
