July 5 (UPI) -- The Golden State Warriors have picked up free agent Andre Iguodala.

The team signed the small forward with a four-year, $48 million contract. On obtaining Iguodala, the Warriors agreed to trade Richard Jefferson, Andris Biedrins and Brandon Rush to the Utah Jazz.

In return, Golden State gets guard Kevin Murphy and gives up first-round picks in 2014 and 2017, and two second-round picks.

The deal has not been officially announced.

Iguodala had shown a serious interest in the Warriors earlier this year, and the team tried to use that to negotiate a deal with Iguodala's former team, the Denver Nuggets.

The Nuggets did not agree to a trade, so to get Iguodala they had to clear space on their own roster.

The Warriors' plan was to get Iguodala, one of the best small forwards in the league, on their team first. From there, they hope to rope in Dwight Howard.

Howard is good friends with Iguodala and is expected to make a decision on a team soon. The Houston Rockets and the Dallas Mavericks are reportedly the favorites, but with Iguodala joining Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, the team could go far if they finish the lineup with Howard.
