Firefighters used a ladder to rescue 60-year-old Pamela Knox on Wednesday after her car was swallowed by a 20-foot-deep sinkhole in Toledo, Ohio, ABC 13 reported.

A city spokeswoman told reporters that the the collapse of sanitary and storm sewers had caused the sinkhole to open. Knox was taken to a hospital and later released.

"I'm just happy that as I understand, she walked herself out [of the hole]," Mayor Mike Bell told the Toledo Blade. "We had a lot of rain lately and something must have washed out under the road."
