June 9 (UPI) -- Some people will apparently drive for hundreds of miles just to make a quick buck off the victims of last month's devastating tornados in Oklahoma.

Police said they arrested three men who had come all the way from Virginia just to pick through the destruction left by the May 20 tornado in Moore, Okla., which killed 23 people and destroyed thousands of homes.

Steven Corky Daniels, of Harrisonburg, Va., was arrested Sunday by Moore police when he was spotted with a large piece of wire in hand.

Steve Costello, of Elmhurst, N.Y, and Justin Wagner, of McGaheysville, Va., were arrested along with Daniels.

Authorities found a truck with a trailer full of "a large amount of steel and copper utility wire," police said.

All three reportedly admitted to driving to Oklahoma solely for the purpose of collecting steel and copper wire from the disaster area. Daniels claimed he owned a recycling company in Virginia.

A number of Moore residents have complained of looting to police, including several who reported thousands of dollars in stolen items.
